I had unpleasant visions of Charles Laughton, Marlon Brando and Dr. Moreau in general while while reading this, NICK.
"You made us in the house of pain. You made us THINGS."
Anyway, to be totally honest, (and totally politically incorrect AND contrarian), I don't see this as being TOTALLY wrong. If, as a lot of people say, the human race is on its way to depopulation and MAYBE extinction by 2012 or beyond, wouldn't it make SENSE that one of the OPTIONS available to mankind for its survival would be interbreeding with other species? IF done right? If it worked for the Centaur, it could work for us. HEH. It DID surprise me that nobody mentioned the MINOTAUR, the ULTIMATE offspring of female-animal relations. I've gone on too long. But, it was a very THOUGHT-PROVOKING article.
Insemination won't work; they're different species (and that is, I believe, still the definition of species). The Germans purportedly played around with this back in the 1930's. While advanced genetics could potentially create a hybrid, the good old fashioned way isn't going to cut it.
Cullan: Yeah, I agree. Did you see the Monster Quest show on "Stalin's Ape-Men"? It made it very clear that it would take a lot of effort and science to get this to work.

Yeah, there's some weird thing in the article. Makes me wonder where science might ultimately take us.
