Animals can turn up in the unlikeliest of places, and still be of the flesh-and-blood variety. Thankfully not everything has to be strange! BTW, I just read "Three Men Seeking Monsters" and still can't figure out if it's a book primarily about eating and drinking with a little monster hunting thrown in for good measure, or one about monster hunting with a whole lot of feasting going on between jaunts. Seriously, if you duck beneath the veneer of this book's lighthearted and very entertaining approach, what you get are killer insights that may very well come damn near to nailing the actual mechanism of seemingly disparate anomalous phenomena whose presence has evolved alongside man's own over the ages. I concur with a majority of the book's conclusions; these are not too dissimilar to the (presumably) independently derived explanations offered by researcher John Keel several years prior. What happens in Chapter 16 was a total shock and surprise -- never saw it coming! Hats off to Nick, Jon and Richard in their blockbuster attempt to analyze the true nature of the 'unknown'. Highly recommended reading to all!
Many thanks for the 3 Men comments. As to whether the book is about monster-hunting with a bit of alcohol thrown in, or vice-versa, I leave that up to the reader to decide! LOL.
Yes, I agree; there's no doubt that some weird animals are flesh and blood - such as Megalania, Mokele Mbembe, at least some lake monsters, out of place wallabies and kangaroos etc.
So, in other words, I think we have several things at work: genuine, real animals, and a Tulpa-style phenomenon too.
