Deby: That's a very good question, because: the answer is No. When big-cats walk they retract their claws. I suppose it's dependent on how long the animal stood still when it made each print, and maybe flexed its claws then. Maybe we'll find out more as investigations into the story continue.
This is a dog print Nick, I emailed the Louth Leader and they will send anything in in the future to us for evualtion. Saves embarassing articles like this.
Cats are also rounder and not usually as elongated

That's what I thought ... well what ever it is, it is definately a fairly large animal.
