We had this over at CRYPTOMUNDO. I agree the picture is a tad too indefinite to know, but it does look like a BIG SOMETHING, regardless. I'm a believer, so I guess I'm not totally objective.
My gut feeling is that the subject is not a mountain lion/cougar. I have spent a little time around captive mountain lions, and the tail of this animal just looks a bit short and perhaps not quite the right shape either- a bit stiff, the way I've seen many a domestic cats "carry" its tail. I wish that the owner of the camera would have gone back, found the spot where the cat was photographed, stood there and allowed his picture to be taken for comparison. Without any scale in the photo, it's simply too little to go on. But thanks for the post anyway.
