I personally would say this is a case of Stayner's sighting of the Sasquatch being a "trigger" for what was already inside of him. He was already disturbed. He used the sighting of Ol' Hairy as an excuse to do what he did. Not to say the victims of Stayner's crimes don't deserve tons of sympathy, but of all the people involved in this I cannot help but feel most sorry for Stayner's parents. First what happened to their son STEVEN, then STEVEN dying in a car accident, then THIS? I would not wish this on my worst enemy.
Very tragic.
