When the CFZ took its first steps back in the early 1990s, pretty much everything was done on a shoestring, as your good director, Jon Downes, sought to make his dream of creating the premier cryptozoological research group a reality.
I recall - with a high degree of nostalgia - standing over the photocopier for hours at a time with Jon during this period as we cranked out copy after copy of Jon's then-self-published books, magazines, and more; carefully and laboriously stapling or ring-binding them all together.
But, in 2007, things are very different.
The days of old are long gone; and today the CFZ uses a professional, state-of-the-art publisher to put out numerous books per year on a whole variety of cryptozoogical issues; the quality of which - we are pleased to say - is identical to anything that you will find on the shelves of your local Barnes & Noble.

As you will see, the current listing is both long and varied; and includes Jon's The Owlman and Others; his autobiography Monster Hunter; Monster of the Mere; Only Fools and Goat Suckers; as well as CFZ zoological director Richard Freeman's Dragons: More Than A Myth?; The CFZ Zoology Expedition Report 2006: Gambia; two titles from Jon's late father; Ken Gerhard's Big Bird! (which is a study of monster-sized birds in the US); and many more.
On a related matter: the CFZ is aiming to publish around another 20 books this year; and as a result we invite anyone who is looking to get published and who has a cryptozoological-driven story to contact us.
We offer an excellent service provided by a superb publisher; and, as I stated above, all CFZ books are easily on a par with anything, quality-wise, that you will find in a regular book-shop.
