To be honest, ...Great article on the Unicorn, Nick. To be honest, I have no idea why the Unicorn is considered so "impossible." This is not a composite creature like the Chimera or Griffin; it's a deer-like creature with one single horn. I'm not saying this is a "magical" creature that clears poison rivers with its horn or kneels submissively in from of virgins---I'm not even saying it exists NOW (or that it is a Horse, for that matter). I'm simply saying there is compelling evidence that a creature that roughly corresponds to the description of the Unicorn may have existed at one time in our history. At least, there is evidence the ancients may have surgically manipulated certain animals trough surgery to achieve certain effects---witness the Dr. Dove experiments in Maine in the early 20th century.
